Over the summer we had a very special trunk show for friends and family to showcase the Candace Ang AW10 Collection. I was fortunate enough to host it with the lovely Kamiesha from The Fashion Confidante, a new personal styling agency launching this season. Now that the collection is online and in stores, I am happy to share the photos of that lovely evening with you all. Enjoy!

3 things I did this weekend:

1) Broke out my new Alex Wang Freja Zip Booties (in the stripe combo please!)

2) Attended the Picasso exhibit at the MoMA. HIGHLY recommend it! My favorite is this piece: “Frances with Bow in her Hair”

3) Scoped some new supplies for next season – spotted these yummy pearls! Nom nom nom….thinking of weaving them with some sandwashed silks in pop colors.

Now back to work!

While hunting for inspiration at my favorite vintage supplier on Thursday afternoon, I had a fantastic surprise phone call that went something like this:

Q – “If I got you tickets to the incredibly sold out Black Rebel Motorcycle Club show tonight, would you want to go?”

A – ” EEEEEKKKKKKKkkkkkk!!!!!! YES YES YES. PLEASE!”

Ahem! Not like the new album has been playing on my iPod on repeat since before it even got released!! EEEeeeekkk!!!

The Webster Hall performance was the first of two sold out shows that BRMC were playing in New York in support of their fifth studio album “Beat the Devil’s Tattoo”. On that perfect spring evening, we rolled in just in time to hear the first song. Lights ablaze, we were lucky enough (thanks Ben!) to get to see the whole show from the engineering booth on the mezzanine! It was so much fun and they played a great set.

TT was lucky enough to score the set list after the show was done (pictured here!). On the way home though he ran into a super fan (and her mom I believe) and he was sweet enough to give it to her along with his VIP pass. Awwww, I guess the concert was memory enough!

We ended up happy and buzzing at the newly opened BLACK MARKET and gorged ourselves on their outstanding fries and somehow ridiculously addictive veggie burger. I went back the next night because I had to have it again!!!!

“The main pillar of my activity is making clothes, but this can never be the perfect and only vehicle of expression. I am always thinking of the total idea, and the context of everything. Fashion alone is so far from being the whole story. It seems that with fashion, as with art, things are getting easier in one sense, but at the same time it is getting harder to be stimulated about things or excite people. Without that impetus of creation, progress is not possible. All kinds of ways of expression are spreading out all over the place, information is overflowing, and it’s harder and harder to be excited about anything. In order to be stimulated or moved in the future, we probably have to go into space and look at our world from there.

What do I think is an unyielding spirit? It would be wonderful if everyone had it in equal measure. But it’s impossible. I was on a lovely morning run this past weekend and somehow landed on Christopher street in the West Village and spied one of our necklaces in a shop window. When I had a second to catch my breath I realized I had run right to one of our fantastic boutiques ALBERTINE! This boutique is so lovely and well edited, it’s a definite must see destination for anyone in New York. We spied the perfect spring necklace, our Volume One Chiffon Bib – which is sold out online but you can get it at the store!
