Surreal Planes, Mary Katrantzou by Erik Madigan Heck featuring Candace Ang Jewelry
One of the rising stars of London Fashion Week + exciting NYC photographer Erik Madigan Heck come together to create this insanely gorgeous shoot featuring Candace Ang Jewelry. Enjoy.

FROM A MAGAZINE:
In conjunction with Nomenus Quarterly, A MAGAZINE is proud to present this exclusive series of images by NY-based photographer Erik Madigan Heck, showcasing the vivid printed designs of Greek designer Mary Katrantzou‘s Fall Winter 2011 collection.
Inspired by the late interior paintings of the 19th century French painters Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard, Heck has pushed his dream-like aesthetic into new territory, blurring the lines between fashion photography and fine art. Combining Katrantzou’s dazzling architectural demi-couture with (equally decadent) customised sets, Erik achieves a piercing chromatic effect.
Reflecting upon the images, Heck stated “It signifies a different direction in my own work, where I am trying to flatten the space between photography and illustration, by eliminating photographic elements and painting on different surfaces and colors in post-production, attempting to move closer towards painting itself, in process and form.”

I spent a fantastic but chilly Hallowe’en weekend with good friends and lots of fun times! Friday started with a crazy show with the ZEF kids DIE ANTWOORD, and then Saturday we all dressed up and ran around like fools! HA. It was so much fun. I had to make my costume last minute but I think it turned out pretty cute. I used a paper wedding bell and attached it to a headband and then draped it with shredded white tulle to make a little ghostie hat! Perfect! Hope that everyone had a safe and fun Hallowe’en!

In my many adventures around the world nothing feels as good as coming home. I think your personal space is one of the most important things you can invest in as well utilize as a platform to curate a reflection of your style and personality. Different cities call for different looks as well! Just like when getting dressed. My home in LA was very pretty and girly to reflect the beautiful sunshine everyday and the romance of Hollywood (see top photo). Our new space looks very different from this one but I did carry over some of the same elements and accessories.
I’ve always felt like jewelry is a sculptural object – because it is something that forms to the shape of your body and in that sense is very three dimensional. In the same sense jewelry can be translated into larger objects such as these custom chandeliers that we have made for special clients. You can see one hanging in this beautiful Brooklyn space in the second photo.
All the chandeliers we make start with a vintage base that has been stripped, cleaned and re-wired to be in perfect working condition. Layer by layer we add the crystals, jewels, chains, trinkets, lockets and keys that make it unique and special. We are open to new commissions and ideas and the price range is anywhere from $2500-$5000 each depending on the size of the piece. We have also made custom sconces which are incredible!

Alexander McQueen's final collection styled by Grace Coddington for VOGUE
Its been over six months and I still find it hard to believe Alexander McQueen is gone. The first collection in his name was just shown at the SS11 Fashion Week presentations. I think Sarah Burton did a great job but nothing can compare to his original work. We will be looking to it and to him and his legacy as inspiration for decades to come.
